Mahogany Dining Table
This is a small dining table that was given to me by some friends who were disposing of it. It had been
on a screened porch and used as a perch for a dog who liked to sit on it and look outside. It was
scratched and gouged on the surface and on its way to the dump.
I was able to get a clean, smooth top which finished well. I replaced the hardware and we have a great addition to our eating area in our kitchen.

Poe Stand Restoration
This was a restoration project on a piece that had been in the client’s family for a couple of generations.
The Poe Stand is from about the mid 1800’s and was used as a wash station. It is also known as a “pot
stand “or “commode”.
The basin was on top, a pitcher of water inside, and the other necessities on the Shelf within. It is solid mahogany with original hinges. The top opens as well as the front of the stand. The white marble insert of the top was removed and polished to remove the stains incurred through use. Several of the distressed areas were left to add to the character of the piece. There is always a balance to be achieved between the original state of a piece (if it is only to be displayed) and the necessary repairs (if the piece is to be serviceable).

Rent Table Repair
This was a repair and refinish for a client. The top was split, two of the legs were broken and the pedestal support was inadequate causing the top to be unsteady. I took the piece apart to make the repairs, used different material to sturdy up the pedestal/top connection and made four new legs.
The piece is English, from the early to mid-1800’s. Originally, it was used as a functional piece in boarding houses where each boarder had a drawer assigned to them for rent collection. The table would usually sit in the parlor where the owner could keep an eye on it. It is made of solid Mahogany; the four drawers are triangular to fit the octagonal top.

Tilt Top Serving Table
This is a serving table with a Mahogany veneered top, Maple inlay for the banding and a maple Cockle shell in the center. It is a part of my personal collection.
The top was finished with a grain fill processed then hand rubbed to a high gloss to produce similar results that a French Polished Lacquer surface would have. The high level of reflectivity makes photographing the top difficult as most anything is reflected. The repair was to reattach the veneer as it has separated through the years of moister affecting the old hide glue.
The Table is 18” long, 12” wide and 20” high.
